I disagree with this procedure. I have owned Vanagons where someone ha done this. It lowers the integrity of the lock system because more cutting the wafers allows more than one key cut to fit that cylinder now. In other words, there will be more keys which might fit 'close enough' to work in your lock. One van I had was filed so much that any if the keys in my possesion including an uncut key was able to operate the lock.
