The Westy Fridge, (Dometic), and the Vitrifrigo are two drastically different technologies. Not only does the Westy draw more power, the load for all intents is continuous. The Vitrifrigo may need to run as little as 10 minutes/hour. In addition, as soon battery voltage drops under load the Domestic fridge losses more efficiency and becomes useless. The Absorption design in the Dometic is really best suited for flame operation. From a cost point of view it is not even effective to run on 110v except when park at campgrounds not charging for power. The 12 volt feature is really limited to use while driving. Does this mean that this particular fridge consumes 5.4 amps when plugged into a 12v battery, as opposed to Vitrifrigo's 1.6 amps - more than triple the amps of the Vitrifrigo? (several references to amps below, but I don't know which one to focus on.) Would appreciate a very brief, very simplified explanation.
**Energy guide:* Energy requirements: 5.4 Amps @ 12V DC 2.7 Amps @ 24V DC AC 115 Volts/60Hz, .75 Amp 65 Watts *
