Hi David
I have toyed with making these for some time. I still have not been
happy with any of the available side door screens. I have a new one
that my wife purchased from GW. I looked it over and found it to be
fairly generic. From what I understand there are many application
differences in many models. Making 1 screen to fit all is a BIG
challenge. I do have a Prototype on the board but Do not like the
life span of the strip magnet. The issues is if you build it on the
inside and close the door you trap the bugs in from screen to door.
If you mount to the outside you have to take it down to close the
door. I did come up with a cleaver little side door screen but I am
not ready to put out to the general public. It is also a bit more
expensive then the standard GW screen. I usually hate to reinvent the
wheel but from what I have seen the only wheel out there is Flat or
square. I also have a slick rear hatch screen that will fit ALL
vanagons Not just westys. Still in Prototype stage and again more
expensive then the OEM snap in gig.
feel free to follow my website at www.fanchers.com click on the VW
Stuff Section. Nothing is posted but if there is enough interest I
will do what I can to put something out for the dreaded BUG season.

BTW not trying to do a shameless plug.
