Lost the rear left wheel on the '82 Westfalia about 5 miles south of Denali. Everyone is safe, tire went into the ditch, van is still limping along. Managed to find a lug nut on the side of the road, so had enough to put the wheel back on. Made it to Fairbanks today. Sounds like the drum is dragging, probably bent where it landed. Not getting hot, but making sounds on hard turns (at least I think it's the drum..) I've got basic tools, but not axle tools. Anyone have a shop recommendation in Fairbanks? Thanks, Will in Alaska (but 350 miles from home!) |
