Subject: old, old gas Q?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hey Folks....

My 83.5 Westy has been sitting for two years with about 1/4 tank of gasoline. There's no pretty way to say it.

What am I up against?

When it was parked I didn't put sta-bil in the gas or any additive to keep the gas from turning. I'm not sure what the gas looks like or smells like at this point but I wanted to check in with the experts before I take on the task.

My plan is to drain the gasoline no matter how it looks or smells by disconnecting the output hose on the passenger side (right side) that heads from the tank to the fuel pump.

Then what? Am I ready to put clean fuel in the tank? Is there a way or a need to clean the gas tank? Will I need a new tank?

Tanks in advance!

Oh, and is there somewhere to recycle or deposit the gas I drain? Do cities have drop off locations to collect that sort of mess?

Thanks! Jeff 83.5 Westy LA,CA
