Or even smaller, so long as you can catch one edge of the pin with it. 8 mm is a pretty big nail. But a punch like the one I made at http://picasaweb.google.com/dbeierl/VanagonAdjustableArmrestPinAndDrivingTool?feat=directlink makes it easier, particularly for reinstallation.
