Subject: need some help with a electricle/wiring issue
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed; delsp=yes

hello guys and gals. I am having a weird issue where my headlights seem to have some how got linked to my ignition. the other night i went to drive the van and when i turned on the headlights my cluster acted up..

so I have been trying to deduce the problem. the only change i had mad to the wiring was to remove the stereo and replace it ( done this at least 80 times since i was 13 )

while looking into this i removed the stereo and unhooked all the wiring ( just to make sure it wasn't the problem)

here are the symptoms: when the van is running and you turn the headlight on the rpms drop and the lights on the cluster flash like you just turned the key on again.

intermittently , with the key out of the ignition if you turn the headlight switch on the cluster and fuel pump start ( like you just turned the key on )

i took the fuse panel down and and looked at it, decided to swap out the relay marked 24 . since i did this it seemed to correct the symptom when the key is out of the ignition.

thanks J
