You can rest assured that your SoCal locale will have a hazardous materials drop-off station which is where you would take things like varnish-like gasoline, oil contaminated with coolant, coolant contaminated with oil, and other science experiments. Contact your municipal waste hauler; they either operate the site or will refer you. And thanks for not just dumping that stuff. The thing with gasoline isn't so much that it'll seep into the groundwater as that it'll evaporate quickly, acting first as a fire hazard and secondly as a pollutant.
