That "tunnel-panel" in my van is metal, and the facia piece at the front of the tunnel, just behind the passenger seat is laminate. I've had this screen on for entire summers and put it on 4 years ago with no problems of the screws that hold the male snap on, coming out/off. I do the same with the rear hatch screen, leaving it on for several months at a time so I can just use both the slider and hatch as vents when I camp in hotter weather, and have had no problems with the snaps/screws pulling off.
