Good information, as usual Scott. Thank you.

The problem I am having with the tank in the '85 is that I know there must be crud int here. Here's why - I replaced the fuel filter and the pump got quiet and sounded normal. After about a month or so of the new filter the pump started getting noisy again - not as bad as it was but noticeably louder. I replaced the filter again ont he way home from Buses by the Beach and the pump again fell "silent".

So I assume there must be crud clogging those filters (I have yet to cut one open). I figured what do I have to lose - I never had any problems with the tank ont he '90. Figure I'll order a seal kit, ditch the '85 tank for the '90 tank - put in new seals on the top, and go to the newer canister post-pump fuel filter.

I also noticed at some point in the '85's life the tank has been droipped before - I know because the tank straps are all bent to H-e-double-hockey sticks and no longer fit flush against the bottom.
