there are two styles...
if I remember correctly ...
you 'may' have the type where there is a plastic plug in the center of them
...
you push that in with a small pointy tool...
and that allows the outer 'clippy' things to disengage.
The you can pull the grill out .....those fasteners will disenage.

OR ..
you could have phillips head screws in them ...which I doubt becuse you
would have noticed them and taken them out, then the things will disenage.

going back together can be tricky sometimes..
you have to hold the clip thing through the grill while you get the 4 points
to fit inside the hole in the body ..
that'll make more sense when you go to do it.
I use biggish phillips head screws to keep the 4 points or tits engaged with
the body ..
paint the heads semi-gloss black, and leave the screws in of course.

used clips are a pain.
sometimes only new ones go in easily.

I am in need of removing the lower front grill - one would expect simple
screws to be holding it on, but no.  I have a '91 Weekender and the lower
grill is held in place by a rubbery type of clamp and I do not see an
obvious way to 'loosen' these or extract the grill w/o causing damage to the
grill and/or the clamps.

Does anyone else have this set-up? Can anyone advise on how to safely remove
the grill?
