if it's like 'regular' Subaru engines, the PS pump goes to the left of the alternator.

that black square can thing in the picture is the PS resevoir bolted to the top of the PS pump of course. Doesn't say if it's a 93 engine ..but all the four cylinder ones I've seen are just like this.

The PS and alternator are run off one belt, so actually ...it takes a 'trick' to have no PS. Like something homemade usually.. the aluminum bracket for the PS pump is what the alternator uses for belt tensioning ... maybe you already have the PS bracket still on.

the hardest part should be adapting the high pressure Subaru line to the same on the vanagon lines. And that's not hard to get done at the right kinds of places...like where they make up hydraulic hoses n' such.
