The clock always runs, digital or analog.

Now *that* sounds like a stuck load reduction relay, or a phantom feed keeping it activated. It's in position 8 on the panel. If it clicks as you pull it out and measures open btw terminal 30 and 87, look for what's powering the 86 terminal that shouldn't be. If it measures closed when it's out, then it's welded together and you'll be wanting a new relay.
