That 3rd stage relay gets controlled from the radiator switch and the AC
high pressure switch. If the fan is cycling with the ignition switch then
the AC system is turning it on. You need to find the controls back there and
figure out what is wrong.

Okay - so my radiator fan has been blasting away for the last so many miles
and I wanted access to the Thermo Switch on the radiator, hence the question
regarding the lower grill. This switch is fine..... it is reading open as it
should at ambient temp. And the fan was still in blast mode with switch
unplugged.

Next, pulled 2nd Stage Relay to test whether it had failed closed..... nope.
Relay removed, tested okay and fan still blasting.

Yes, this van did come with an A/C system.... not working and hasn't worked
for at least 8 years. Electrically, it looks like the 3rd Stage Relay could
be powering the fan, so I would like to pull the 50 A fuse (yes - 50 Amps!)
that delivers power through its contacts.

Bentley has a nice picture of the fuse and relay which are located 'behind
the left side fresh air vent'. Really? Hmm..... is there an easy way to get
there? It looks like the whole dash would need to be disassembled.

Help/advice appreciated?


Also, Re: clamps on the grill:  these are the stock ones with the little
plastic centers that one is supposed to push out and lose forever inside the
front body area..... will replace with new if I can find local! Thanks to
all for their input on this.
