I found all these plastic pins and brackets to be fragile. I bought some large stainless screws which fit the openings into which the retainers are supposed to fit, and screwed 'er down tight. Works great, and a radiator shop owner who'd just worked on another one without the screws complemented me on what I did. Seems much better to me.
