re "actually I prefer non-skylight roofs, but that's another subject"

What I do that works really nicely I think is.. I get a piece of bronze-gold Plexiglas called 'Edge Glow' .. and have it custom cut to the right size to put where there was no skylight, or in place of a broken skylight.

it's a compound curve up there ....and I seal it to the roof and use through-screws with lock nuts o the inside. I have to fill in two low areas on each side, with some magic stuff I make up. But I get them to seal very well.

what I like about this set up is .. the bronze-gold is a very good compromise color ...clear would be obnoxiously bright in sunlight, with opaque you couldn't see any stars at night ...etc. so that shade works well, and with no moving parts, there's nothing to leak or break. I've done it at least twice, works great.

Van Cafe has grey & clear skylights on sale. I have a gold (Savannah beige) 86 Wolfsburg Westfalia Weekender. I can't remember what the skylight color is Grey - smoke - gold?? and I'd like to order today. Can't quite fathom if the grey will look weird.

OK, I could order clear, but I prefer some tint (actually I prefer non-skylight roofs, but that's another subject).
