The cv joints are also brand new. I guess, depending on your perspective this could make them suspicious. But, at least, they are definitely full of grease. And I have double checked that the bolts haven't loosened. The noise isn't periodic though. My experience with CV joint noise is click click click noises that are periodic, and vary with wheel speed. This noise seems completely unrelated to wheel speed. I wish I had some theories as to what it could be.
