I have what must rate as one of the greatest "lo-tech" six-point sockets that was ever created, for my axle nuts. It is a combination breaker and socket, and it consists of a thick flat steel plate, about 6" by 4", with two holes in it. One is a 46mm hex, and the other is a 3/4" square. There are flats at the sides, above the square hole, to allow application of a large blunt object, at suitably high speeds. Hasn't failed me yet, although it does require an occasional dressing of the sharp upset edges created when it gets hit... ________________________________ >snip I see the logic behind that. However, if they had them, I'd suggest using 6 pt sockets. Especially for the axle nut job. Neil. |
