One doesn't necessarily have to be that high for snow at that time of year.  I was traveling home to Harlingen, Texas from Edmonton, Alberta July 1994, and detoured by Glacier National Park.  I hoped to make a campground before dark, but finally just decided to pitch beside the road where there was a wide right of way.  I was just outside the park at that point.  I was driving and sleeping in the back of a Toyota Pick-up.   About 2 a.m. the vehicle began shaking and there was a howling like a strong wind.  I looked out to find a near white-out.  I went back to sleep, and when I got up about 6 a.m. there was about 3 inches of snow with a bright blue sky.  All the snow was gone by noon, reminded me of winter in Dallas.
