Many have spoken - lots of rubber, bits and pieces on top of the tank. They dry rot, crack etc, and then you get leaks. Some have replaced this without dropping the tank, others dropped the tank in their drive way to do it. Personally, I took mine to a mechanic friend to get it done. He was unfamiliar, but had good mechanicn skills, a tool box and a lift. I knew the van, the system, and had a Bentley. Between the two of us, got the job done in a little over an hour. This is one job I won't even attempt without the van being on a lift. Old bones I guess.

But if you have it on a lift, you can easily give the underside a real going over to see if anything else needs doing in that space.
