Just for the record, Texas is not a "southern humid state."  East Texas is humid, and is culturally part of the SE U.S.  The western portion is desert and scrub, and is far from humid.  It also has no cultural similarity to the SE U.S.


Most of Texas is hot in the summer, some of it brutally so.  but, if you find yourself anywhere in Texas west of the 100th meridian, it generally will cool off to a comfortable level soon after sundown, because it is dry.
