I have a cabinet behind the drivers seat that is more or less ceiling height. I open the sliding window behind the drivers door then just slide out a small A/C that is inside the cabinet on drawer slides. It blows into the now empty cabinet space which has vents to direct the cool air towards the back of the van. It takes about one minute to set up, works fine, doesn't require me to carry around an A/C and is hidden when not in use.

I do and it does. My Honda 2000 runs my cheap brand X 5000 BTU A/C just fine.
