PS I still stick with the term prat though

As I understand the old story, soccer comes from "associated", as in
associated football, the old english name for football.

supposedly the upper class nicknamed it soccer (prats!). But its
football to the real folk :)

so in a way, Americans calling it soccer is just perpetuating a class
distinction.
