If you find yourself near Annapolis, Maryland, a slight detour to the east end of the Bay Bridge (just east of Annapolis) on Kent Island will put you near the Harris Crab House on the north side of that road.  Stop.

You mention driving along the coast, but if you venture inland any portion of the Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway that you can hit will be enjoyable.
