When mine did this I replaced the fuel pump relay and it has not done it since.  Flat rectangular black box at the left of the engine compartment, rightmost relay on the inside.  I also bought a new ignition switch at the same time in case the relay did not fix it, and I have not used the new switch yet.  Also, I did not do any further troubleshooting at the time so I did not find out where the voltage was or was not (at the relay, at the pump, etc.).  Good luck!

Tried starting my alternate '88 GL today. Starter turned the engine
strong, but no start. Then I took time ot listent for the pump, before
turning the ignition to "start" - no sound. Removed the little screw in
the "T" in the fuel lines where they split to go to each cylinder bank -
Turned the ignition to "on". No pump sound, no fuel at the "T".

 It was working fine when I parked it last, and never gave any
indications of any kind of problem.

Possibilities - dead pump, other???
