Happens all the time. Go to their small appliance section, look at a given item, say a kitchen mixer. Write down the brand name, the model name, the model number, and the specs. Take that information to the web site for the company of the brand name. Look up the same item. You won't find the model number you wrote down, but you will find the model name, with another number. Compare the specs. They are different, more powerful motor for example. Only WalMart has cheaper item -- it is not for sale on the general market.

Sears practiced this brand of buying and marketing for years, too.
