Add lube to the lower track in particular. If they still lock then there is a metal shim underneath the window in the track that will dry out and make an awful racket when it does. If they don't latch you've probably lost the shim and are now running the bottom of the window over the frame without anything there to help. Use something really light like a silicon spray. Only a little is really necessary.

My sliding side windows make a really loud screech when I open and close them. Anyone have any tricks to make that go away. They function just fine but they make everyone in ear shot cringe.
