Hi all
Watched this thread with amazement!
NO TILEX!! Mold is just as bad as the wrong cleaner!!! Do not use
anything not designed to do the job on the actual Item.
If you have COTTON OEM canvas do not use a product for Tile! Use a
product for Canvas. There are Tons of them out there. Mold will EAT
Cotton Canvas and leave you with a hole so Clean it! ( with the
proper cleaner )
Once Done cleaning Use plenty of water and WASH IT OFF. Do not leave
the cleaner on the canvas it will be just as bad as Mold. Also Cotton
is a Natural Fiber! It will break down with Harsh chemicals. Try
washing your hands with tilex and not rinsing them. That is how your
canvas will feel. Feel the burn and tingling sensation! that is what
it is doing to your canvas.
Sorry for the Rant!!
If you have Acrylic (Sunbrella Style) canvas use the proper cleaner
for it. You will get better results and longer life!
We use Iosso brand at the shop. Not making a sales pitch at all.
There are other brands like 303 and some others that I can not
remember off the top of my head. Oxyclean will also work on Canvas.
DO NOT USE Detergents ( ie laundry and dish )
Heck if you want to use tilex use clorox clean up. It will eat your
canvas just as fast if not faster. Short term to sell a vehicle sure
spray it down. Long term Expect to replace canvas!
Hope I didn't step on anyones toes! I work with Canvas, Acrylic,
Polyester Daily and see tons of things people use on there stuff to
make it wear out faster. My favorite recently was a customer using
Easy Off Oven Cleaner to clean the vinyl in his Boat!!! Worked great
Just spray on and wipe off! 1st year Ok. 2nd Year a complete new
interior at the tune of $3400.00 Bones. He blamed it on the sun and
crappy vinyl from the manufacturer. This go around I told him NO EASY
OFF PERIOD!!! or you will be back in a few years.
Have a good one!!
