I'd say it's about 50-50 either way.
like both will work about the same.
I tend to go for the 'larger threads and bolt' method myself, when
practical.
You might have to enlarge the hole in the rubber mount part for that one
bolt.
next size up from 8mm would be 10mm ..
in muricun that would be ......3/8ths inch. Very common size. I like the
course threads of '3/8 course' for an application like this.
my only reservation on the helicoil is that the material is not that thick
where you're going to put it.
helicoils are more typically used in a blind hole sorta deal, like say an
exhaust stud hole in a cylinder head, not not in plate steel that's about
1/4 inch thick.
but I don't see any harm with the helicoil deal particularily if you decide
to go that way.
