That's why it works! And if it's easier to bring a fat wire from the alternator to the starter than to bring a fat wire from the battery to the starter then, while not ideal, it's darn good.

Yeah, pretty much. Not everyone needs a fat charging wire and I just wanted to describe the conditions under which it matters, for folk who were wondering if it's something worth doing. Sometimes bigger is not necessarily useful. That was my point, I guess. Anyway, it's more interesting to me than talking about tires....
