Subject: I'm fixing a hole [in the fresh water tank]
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed

So for a while my fresh water tank level meter lamp thingy on the front of the stove was inop due to the green wire (David Beierl, this is for you) on the top electrode having come loose.*

I filled the water tank a few times while the level meter not working, and found that I needed to open the top of the tank to monitor the filling else it overflowed out of an opening on the tank top and flooded the inside behind the cabinets. Now that the meter is working again, I can cut off the fill sooner.

But I'd like to see about sealing the tank top better in case I am distracted and miss the green "full" light.

There are three openings on the top: water out (from the pump), electricity in (to the pump), and a mystery hose that goes forward behind the refrigerator to places unknown and there's presently too much crap under there for me to want to find out. I presume it's a breather/overflow line for the tank and possibly dumps into the sink drain line? Just a guess. But anyway,

The two hose connections (water out and mystery) are tight, but the seal around the electrical wire ain't so tight. The wire goes through a black rubber grommet which has seen better days. I was thinking about schmearing a bunch of RTV around that point so an overfull tank would not squirt water out there.

Any tips or better ideas before I proceed?

=========== * I crammed a shoreline dual-battery smart charger and a DC > DC charger into that secret compartment and the extra wiring tugged the green sense wire off the upper electrode. All fixed now.
