Beeswax? Who said beeswax? He's crazy.

I was just being lazy.

I got this stuff from a hardware store. It's a paper cylinder wrapped around a brown waxy stick, which feels pretty much like beeswax. The label on the paper reads, "Door-ease Stick Lubricant" the manufacturer claims 1001 uses, but doesn't back up that claim with a suitable list. They do say, "Car, Home, Shop, Sports -- clean convenient way to stop squeaking, sticking & wear. USE ON: Exposed surfaces of metal, wood, glass, plastic, & rubber. Will not stain clothing or upholstery."

It is "The #1 Choice in Specialty Lubricants."

It must be true if they print it on the label.

A Product of AGS Company - Muskegon, MI, 49442 USA

No telling what's in this stuff. It'll probably flake into the drinking water and cause huge tumors throughout my entire body within weeks. The doctors will say they've never seen anything like it and can't help me (though they will, for a fee, offer to re-touch my x-rays).

But it does a bang-up job making that fresh water tank inspection port easy to turn. Silicone, as you mentioned, isn't much help.
