On my non-power-everything '84 Westy the opening at the front of the driver's door was blocked with a plastic cover. The gasket was still there, of course, to seal to the end of the heater plenum.

You'll have to think of something inscrutable to do with that bottom lever on the heater panel...kiln temperature perhaps?

To avoid any possible confusion, the vent grilles at the after bottom corner of each door are exhausts. In (some year prior to '89) they installed exhaust vents along the after edges of the rear windows, and taped over the exhaust hole in the door. They removed the sliding shutoff plate but kept the grilles themselves. The whole system would start working again though if you removed the big piece of tape; and if you wanted to be able to shut them off you'd have to get sliders from an earlier year.

Yours, David
