Subject: Mexico Vanagon honeymoon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

We're getting married July 31st (!!!!) and are planning a vanagon-trip honeymoon to Mexico.

Our general plan is to very roughly follow a route like this: http://www.bing.com/maps/#JmNwPTI5LjMyNDQxOTQ5ODQ0MzYxOH4tODYuNTMyMDgwNzY5NTM4ODgmbHZsPTQmc3R5PXImcnRwPXBvcy40MC43MTQ1NV8tNzQuMDA3MTI1X05ldyUyMFlvcmslMkMlMjBOWV9fX2VffnBvcy4yMS4yODU5NTM3NDUyNDU5MzRfLTg5LjY1MjE0Njk5NTA2NzZfUHJvZ3Jlc28lMkMlMjBNZXhpY29fX19lXyZtb2RlPUQmcnRvcD0wfjB+MH4=

We are only going to have 3 and half weeks or so for the whole trip. So, here's where it gets a little crazy. The plan is to ship the van from Progreso, Mexico back to Panama City, Fl with these guys: http://www.lineaships.com/contacts.html to save from having to make a bad dash on the return.

It's a 3 day transit, during which time we'll fly to Orlando from Merida and go to Disneyworld or Universal or something like that, and then meet up with the van in Panama City with a rental car. Then we sprint back to New York.

As crazy as this sounds, I think it is surprisingly feasible. The shipping rate is going to run around $570 not including brokerage fees, and I think the flight would be under $400 each ticket.

So... I'm looking for suggestions on what to do on the trip... we are hoping to spend a good amount of time at Ruins at the end, but we know very little about what there is to see in Mexico and figure the list would be a great resource.

Also, any practical suggestions regarding the above crazy plan would obviously be appreciated. I know it's a short amount of time for a trip like that, but I think we understand the tradeoffs of covering a lot in little time... we did a coast-to-coast trip two summers back (photos here for those who missed them! http://picasaweb.google.com/mchikina/RoadTrip#) in 3 weeks and had a great time.

Thanks so much!!! Wes and Maria
