Dear Jake,

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear enough. Boston Bob's good friend, named "Father John [the] Mechanic," is a monk in the same community as the man of whom I spoke. The entire community was deeply shaken by the accident and I'd be quite surprised if Boston Bob didn't know and care about it at the time it happened. It in fact happened before I met Boston Bob, but not before I was driving a Westy as my daily driver, I think. Fr. John Mechanic didn't drive a Vanagon -- he drove a VW diesel pickup which received much loving care from Boston Bob.

In any case I think that the man's station in life is just as relevant (and except for the Boston Bob connection) just as IRrelevant as the fact that Jake Villiers is a luthier or that Neil B. plays the tuba. But to me the relevance is that it says something about Boston Bob.

Frankly, I very much wish that you would quit sniping at me on the list; it has gotten tiresome. If you wish to snipe in private it's your privilege, I guess, and if you have questions or complaints about list content you may take it up with either Ben or me in our capacity as moderators.

Yours, David
