It appears that line wrap may have cut off the end of the links and confused some folks. The items in question were the last two pictures. Several folks identified the piece on the alternator, so now the remaining question is "what the heck is that big rusty iron piece I'm holding...?"

I was trying to get to my Idle Control Computer and found this thing hidden in the space:

http://picasaweb.google.com/garciasghostvw/MysteryDoohickey#5483214385772111 618

It looks like something I would've found in Grandaddy's barn, and therefore I want to think it has something to do with horseshoeing, but I don't know.

I decided to put the alternator from my '86 in my '87 because I thought it was making some bearing noise, and when I picked it up it was like this:

http://picasaweb.google.com/garciasghostvw/MysteryDoohickey#5483214459268981 010

That wasn't the way the alternator was configured in the '87 so I changed it around. Anybody know what's going on there?

Cya,

Robert
