Soo... I've been meaning to post this for a while now but have kept missing my Frydaye opportunities...

There's a great NOVA documentary on the most recent of the Hubble repair missions. "Hubble amazing rescue": http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/hubble/

You can watch the whole thing for free at the website (although its better on a bigger screen if you can rent it somehow).

The relevance to vanagon's is considering the problem of designing equipment for repairs in extreme conditions, and designing repair protocols and tools to work in those extreme conditions. Things as simple as operating ratchet wrenches and removing screws become tricky in the endless void. I thought people on the list might interested for that reason.

We should probably avoid delving into political discussions about the future of manned space programs. I really just think that this is a fascinating documentary about crazy repairs.
