Jeff,

1) Remove the handle from the shifter. There is a small allen head set screw that holds it in place.

2) Pop the cover (the part with P-R-N-D-2-1 on it) off the shifter housing by prying up the bottom edge with a small screw driver (or similar) and remove it by sliding it up the shifter.

3) Slide the plastic strip out of the cover and replace with a new one.

4) Re-assemble in reverse order.
