We have the '87 Westy. We decided to cook outside (on a propane grill) any food that 'spits' grease, because it's easier than trying to clean the Westy stove. We do use the stove for morning tea/coffee and sometimes as an additional burner for stuff like heating up tortillas. We do fill our kettle the night before, for the morning tea/coffee (so we don't need to make a pajama-clad visit to the tap). We find that the Westy sink is so small that it's not really convenient. Plus, our plates are just the right diameter to get 'stuck' in the sink. :-o If we're camping somewhere without a water supply nearby, then we'll fill the Westy tank and use the sink. Even where it's available, we don't usually bother to connect to city water. Generally we just use the outside taps. We do rely on the Westy fridge ... all three modes of operation (12V, propane, town-power whenever it's available). Besides that, we live in earthquake/wildfire country. 'Esme' is our survival vehicle. We figure we'd be much more comfortable 'camping' than jammed in with thousands of people at the disaster shelter. B&S '87 Westy 'Esmerelda Blanc' SoCal
