Dont forget the Obvious of Mexican Car insurance, try not to drive at night, tourist cards and get it valildated once you cross the border (which I believe is less then one month time frame not sure)

Been surfing down baja many times. And there was a check point for the card. Mex car insurance is madatory and can get in a heep of trouble if you get in an accident.
