I just finished replacing a squished tank. I'm still not sure how it happened. Discovered it when we ran out of gas in central IL when it was about -5 F last winter. The gauge read just under a quarter and we had only gone about 190 miles since the last fill-up. It took only 12.5 gal to refill. The gauge read correctly when the tank was full. Does your tank look squished? Have you calculated mpg by dividing miles traveled by gallons used since last fill-up? Mpg should not change with tank shape.

After putting gas in my new tank the other day and starting the van I saw a large puddle near the right front wheel. After saying a few bad words I discovered that it was not gasoline but brake fluid. That's a whole new thread...
