I think he's using the driveline from the big LHS cars, which places the engine longitudinally instead of transversely, as in the minivans.  Astride instead of sidesaddle, as writer Gordon Jennings once observed. No 4-cylinder was available in that configuration, as I recall.  Why he chose it is probably explained adequately in his posts, but I'd have thought the transverse (minivan engine) setup would require less space and be more Vanagon-friendly and provide a greater variety of engines, from fours to several displacements of V6.  This may just have been simpler.   Stephen

This guy has been spamming various area CL's for sometime. He had been mostly promoting his discussion froum for his pariculat conversion. This is the first time I saw him post an actual vehicle for sale. Glad to see he finished one though.

I only wished he did a conversion using the 4-cylinder instead of the 6. Lots of those 6's at my local wrecking yards with dead motors. The 4-banger on the otherhand seems more robust. Have one in our '2000 Routan'. ;-)
