He has one thread on the Samba called "My middie" which documents the thought process from the get-go, and there's a newer one about the sale vehicle with posts by him explaining some recent developments: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=419967  This thread lists some measurements indicating that engine/trans combo is not as tall/long as a Sube 2.5 on a Vanagon trans.  Go figure.   Hey, if he's got the nerve, curiosity and skills to try it more power (literally, in this case) to him.  Somebody had to be the first to stick a Hemi in the bed of a Dodge A100 pickup to create the Little Red Wagon.  I'd love to have access to the space, time, tools, parts and ingenuity to pursue something like this but my grand projects seem to fizzle out as this one may have done for him.

I had read a few posts on thesamba regarding this engine swap. I have to wonder if he isn't bailing on his project and selling a "package" so to speak. (I mean, where are the pics of engine installed??) Regardless, I was skeptical about engine height but maybe this (pic)

from here

shows that the engine itself might be "short" enough to fit?
