Aaron,

Food for thought for a possible quick fix.

I had similar issue on my 88 GL. No power under load, happened on the freeway, crusing along and all of sudden just dives on the power. Revs standing still with little problem.

Turned out to be the (don't know the proper part name) intake-breather-before-the-airbox-hose. Plastic tube/hose with an acordian type construction.

The hose would collapse under heavy low pressure (suction). For my highway fix, I just disconnected and got back to business.
