If he spends any time whatsoever during a lovely holiday like that in
some grubby little Internet cafe reading posts (like this) when he could
be wandering around in short pants, a fanny pack, a too-tight t-shirt
and too many cameras, proclaiming loudly to anyone within earshot about
how much wider the streets are at home, complaining about how difficult
it is to get water with ice in it, and annoying the locals by asking
where the nearest McDonald's is, then he's doing it wrong.

I, for one, hope he is in a pleasant alcoholic haze, soaking up the sun,
enjoying excellent inexpensive wine and beer while having smart
conversations with philosophers, artists, intellectuals and writers
(seldom the same thing), avoiding tourist traps, seeing lovely art, and
traveling in leisurely fashion across beautiful countrysides. Preferably
in a vintage sports car with wicker luggage tied to the back, while
wearing Ray-Bans, linen, and gabardine.
