do you mean the speedometer is not working,
or do you mean the speedometer is working but not the odometer. ?

tach is electronic, speedo/odo are purely mechanical driven off the left
front wheel bearing  cap.
remove  your main hub cap ..see if speedometer cable is still being driven
by the wheel there.
sometimes the upper end of the speedo cable falls off the back of the speedo
also.

and it's very common to have working speedometer and broken odometer.
They break inside the speedometer, the fix is documented many places.
