There's a guy I met in Bend one time.. Subaru specialist shop .. puts JDM turbo subaru engines into US model subaru's etc. it's east of the 'expressway' through town I think. He could work on that car just fine I'm sure.

I would call German Transaxle there in Bend .. talk to Sarah I think is her name...tell her you're a local vanagon person .. mention me if you want.. I've known GT 20 years almost. and ask them who is the 'oddball japanese' car shop or person around Bend. they might give you a lead.

I can't picture what a 68 Datsun 1000 would be .. 1200, yes, but not 1000. my guess is it's a 68 Datsun 1200 ...tough little car acutally. Can't kill the engine. Saw one once, that blew out a freeze plug from servere overheating ....like a 'steaming volcano' . put a freeze plug back in, adjusted the vavles, it was fine.

kinda hard to work on around the carb and manfolds area. Bit diabolical on the carb.

Datsun-Smatsun................ I'll give you a *great* deal on a 1978 Mercedes 450SLC four seat sports car ! She even runs. Ms. Squiril will look mighty fine driving out the to country club in that baby, yessiree bob. Comes with an Oregon title, no smog checks needed ...what's not to like ! Nice light bright blue color too.

make a nice set of cars ....your Vanagon westy and this classic Mercedes. Scott turbovans
