was thinking more along this

http://www.oilite.com/bearings2.asp?type=oilite&subtypeid=2

site shows pics on other pages. its bronze coloured, well after all it is sintered bronze.

as to ball bearing type bearings, they would be nice, maybe a tad more work to make fit.

either way, you'd have to bore out pedal hole, and maybe just to a press fit for the oilite bearing.

I get the occasional squeak from that area on clutch pedal, bugs me and its kinda awkward to get the spray grease up there.

Thanks Alistair. That makes sense.

Maybe something like this? http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/230853593/oilite_Bushing.html

Looks similar to what is used in the clutch housing (blind hole passenger side cross shaft bushing)

Thanks. That would be great to do. Would out last the vehicle I'm sure!

A quick look at this pic, and it seems one might need to add metal to arm to support the pipe/bearing

Still, my guess is that even if one added material, that end of the pedal should clear whatevers near it.

Neil.
