I have 450k miles on mine, only it's not a Vanagon but a diesel Mercedes
190D, 2.5 engine, 5 cylinder.  Bought it for $500 a year ago and it's a well
serviced car.  I wish the Vanagon would have an engine like that in it.
Kind of a heavy engine, I must say.  And it does 30 to 38 mpg.  Not using
oil much at all.
But nothing sounds like a Vanagon.
