I carry 2 kayaks without a rack on my Westy.  I loop some rope around the
rear hinges from the top to tie the rears.  Loop a rope ( I use webbing and
fish it through the front bumper) around the tow hook under the front to tie
off the front.  Use the cleats in the luggage rack to cross strap the front
quarter and stick your head out frequently to check as you putt down the
road.  Do take a photo if you can.
